Ambitious Hotel Manager
My name is Mansour Haidari, I live in Germany since November 2021. I got out of Afghanistan after the collapse of the Afghan regime. Kabul Luftbrücke helped me and my family to leave Afghanistan, right when we had lost hope and were looking for some place to hide.
Settling in a new country is not easy as we faced many challenges during that time. Although I got more acclimated to Germany, after building new connections in this country. My German friends always helped me with appointments, learning the language, finding a flat, and in a way, to follow my educational and professional goals.
As a person who is new to this country, there are certain things that I found to be rather funny and strange. For example, when the traffic light is red, and even if there are no cars on the street, you still must wait till the light turns green to cross the road. Also, Germans say (JAIN), which means (Yes and NO) that you cannot find in any other languages.
I currently live in Berlin, having completed my B2 language class in 1.5 years. Soon, I’ll begin my Hotel Management „Ausbildung“ thanks to the German educational integration system, which allowed me to finish my education in eight months, instead of three and a half years. I value this opportunity, especially considering my 6 years of prior hotel industry experience.
In the meantime, I am working with Kabul Luftbrücke as a volunteer.
KLB helped my family and hundreds of other Afghans who were facing the danger of death.
What happened to Afghanistan and what is still going on there, remains a nightmare to me. I truly hope my people could live in peace one day.
Germany has become my second home and I thank everyone, who made a contribution in this process for Afghans.
